Google UX Design Certificate
Background
As part of the Google UX Design Certificate, I completed various projects that are included below.
HANKKi
Please note: I am not affiliated with HANKKi and simply used the company as an example for completing the project.
Overview
Hankki is a mobile app designed to provide a seamless food delivery experience for users of an existing restaurant. It aims to provide a simple and user-friendly interface that enables customers to browse through various food options, select their preferred items, place orders, and track the delivery status in real-time. The app was designed for iOS platform, targeting users aged between 18-35.
Problem
As the restaurant industry shifts towards more digital experiences, it's important to provide an online ordering platform that is easy to use and navigate for customers. Common issues include a confusing menu layout, long loading times, and unclear order tracking. There is a need for an app that provides a simple and fast food delivery experience for customers of the restaurant.
Solution
The Hankki app was designed to address the above problem by offering the following features:
Simple and user-friendly interface
The app features a clean and simple interface with easy-to-navigate screens that allow users to browse through various food options and place orders with just a few taps.
Fast loading times
The app was designed to load quickly, ensuring a seamless user experience.
Real-time order tracking
Users can track the delivery status of their orders in real-time, providing them with peace of mind and eliminating the need for constant communication with the restaurant.
Design Process
The design process for Hankki involved the following stages:
Research
Conducted user research to identify user needs and pain points. This included reviewing competitor apps, conducting user surveys, and analyzing user feedback.
Wireframing
Created low-fidelity wireframes to test the app's user flow and functionality.
Prototyping
Developed interactive prototypes using Figma to test the app's usability and gather feedback from users.
Iteration
Made iterative design changes based on user feedback to refine the app's user experience.
High-fidelity design
Developed high-fidelity designs using Figma, incorporating the feedback received during the iteration stage.
User testing
Conducted usability testing with real users to evaluate the app's overall user experience and make final design refinements.

Project Overview
Gen Z Votes
Overview
Gen Z Votes is an app designed by myself to promote youth engagement in elections. The app was created to help young people feel more confident in their ability to participate in the democratic process by providing easy-to-use features to register to vote, access election information, and engage with other voters.
Design Goals
- Encourage young people to participate in the democratic process
- Make it easy for users to register to vote
- Provide clear and concise information about upcoming elections
- Allow users to connect with other voters and share their opinions
- Create an engaging and user-friendly experience
Design Process
To create a user-centered design, I started with a series of user interviews and surveys to identify pain points and areas of improvement for young people when it comes to voting. I then conducted a competitive analysis to see what features and designs are currently in the market, and identified areas where the Gen Z Votes app could differentiate itself. After defining the goals and user needs, I created user personas to guide the design decisions.
I then created low-fidelity wireframes and conducted user testing to refine the app's information architecture and feature set. After several rounds of testing and iteration, I moved on to create a high-fidelity design that incorporated the app's brand guidelines and visual style.
Design Solutions
The Gen Z Votes app features several key design solutions to promote youth engagement in elections:
Clear and Simple Registration Process
The app uses a step-by-step process to help users register to vote, including an option to complete the process entirely within the app.
Interactive Election Calendar
The app includes a calendar with upcoming elections and polling locations, as well as the option to add events to the user's personal calendar.
Informative Content
The app provides easily digestible summaries of candidates, issues, and ballot measures, as well as links to additional resources for users who want to learn more.
Future Social Features
Although the prototype does not currently include social features, the app plans on incorporating them in the future to allow users to connect with other voters, share their opinions, and participate in polls and discussions.
Outcome
Although the Gen Z Votes app has not been launched yet, the design has received positive feedback from test users and stakeholders. The app's design is focused on promoting youth engagement in the democratic process, and the design solutions have been shown to be effective in encouraging young people to register to vote and access election information. The app's user-friendly design and planned social features have also been praised by those who have seen the app.
